Captain Frank Woods is a 20+ year veteran of law enforcement, and has consistently
gone above and beyond the call of duty to support his fellow officers and his community.
His love of education found him as the head of the Gwinnett Sheriff’s Department
Training Staff for several years, and he is also serving as the leader of the Gwinnett
County Sheriff's Department's Police Explorer Post that gives teens the opportunity
to learn the skills and training necessary to establish a career in law enforcement.
As a devoted father, he is committed to making a positive impact on the issues that
plague young drivers in our communities. From Illegal Street Racing, to Distracted
Driving, and to Defensive Driving Skills, he effectively takes his experience and
knowledge and converts it into a format that can easily be absorbed by his target
However, Frank is not "all talk." As the man in charge of the loud pedal in the
team’s Impala SS, he has shown he has the skills to get down the track quickly. In
June 2012, the Impala SS was entered into competition at Atlanta Dragway's Night
of Fire. Frank went round after round through the day, consistently denying each
competitor their chance to proclaim they had "Beat the Heat."
He ultimately battled to the Semi-Final round that event, where he finally lined
up against someone who was able to put together a better pass down the 1/4 mile.
But, win or lose, Frank appreciates the opportunity to line up against other racers
who have made the decision to "take it to the track, not to the street."
